The Green City

The Green City was launched in 2002 during the world flower festival Floriade and takes place in the Netherlands once in every 10 years. During its 14 years of existence, the concept has been adopted in many countries in Europe and over the world such as Germany, France, Britain, China, Singapore, Canada, Italy, Spain, Hungary, where “the green” permanently entered the agenda of the authorities, business and society. Netherlands continues to have a leading role in “Green City”, relying on public dialogue, scientific approach and target financial instruments.
In May 2015 the Association of ornamental plants and the Union of landscape architects founded the “Green City Bulgaria. Bulgaria’s accession to the “Green City” was made possible with the assistance of Foundation iVerde (Netherlands) and with the support of the Netherlands Embassy in Sofia.
